Who Is Sheryl Crow? A Biography
Sheryl Crow is one of the most influential American singer-songwriters of the past three decades. Born on February 11, 1962, in Kennett, Missouri, she grew up as the third child in a musically inclined family. Her father played trumpet and her mother was a pianist, giving Crow early exposure to music. She studied music education at the University of Missouri, graduating in 1984.
After graduation, Sheryl Crow moved to Los Angeles, where she launched her career as a backup singer. She toured with major artists including Michael Jackson, Don Henley, and Rod Stewart, gaining invaluable experience and industry connections. Yet her ambition was always to break through as a solo artist.
Early Career and Breakthrough
In 1993, Sheryl Crow signed with A&M Records and released her debut album Tuesday Night Music Club. The album featured the mega-hit 'All I Wanna Do', which brought her worldwide fame. The song peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and won three Grammy Awards in 1995, including Record of the Year and Best New Artist.

Her self-titled second album, Sheryl Crow (1996), confirmed her status as a top-tier artist with hits like 'If It Makes You Happy' and 'Everyday Is a Winding Road'. The album reached number one in several countries and earned her additional Grammy Awards.
